Infertility Clinic & Reproductive Surgery
The Hinsdale Center for Reproduction (HCR) for Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) facility is full-service, private practice In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) program located in the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale.
The IVF program was founded in 1991, and boasts over 5000 babies born from ART. Dr. Michael J. Hickey, a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist and Surgeon, is one of the founding partners of HCR, and still sees patients daily.
A new patient visit typically involves spending the better part of an hour reviewing your history and any procedures or treatments you may have had. Generally, we don't need to repeat tests you have already had done if they were done well and properly recorded. By the end of the session, you will understand your working diagnosis and what can be done to address any underlying, or newly discovered problems.
While it isn't required, it is helpful if both members can attend this consultation. Patients often comment how much better they understand their situation and options after this meeting. Together, you and Dr. Hickey will propose a treatment plan that you can understand.
Initial treatment generally includes evaluating how well you ovulate. After your initial visit, you will also understand the medications we use to improve ovulation. Evaluation of the male involves obtaining at least one semen analysis. In addition, we will describe a way to document that your reproductive anatomy is normal usually involving an X-ray. If an anatomic problem is evident from your history, Dr. Hickey is a nationally recognized expert in Minimally Invasive Reproductive Surgery.
These techniques are often used in pursuit of a pregnancy:
- Ovulation Induction – both simple and complex.
- Intrauterine Insemination (IUI).
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
- Intracytoplasmic Insemination (ICSI).
- Assisted Zona Hatching (AZH) by Laser.
- Sperm, Egg and Embryo Vitrification – Cryopreservation.
- Carrier status screening by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) by Counsyl.
- Trophectoderm Embryo Biopsy (together with the procedures listed below.)
- PreImplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) by Array comparative Genomic Hybridization. (Array cGH)
- PreImplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
- Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET).
